Discover Flying

Introductory lessons offer people the chance to see what being a pilot is about. Many if not all local flight schools offer a discounted flight lesson for this purpose.

On an introductory lesson the student pilot will work with the flight instructor in doing all the checklist prior to take off and then in flight will be able to have hands on control of the airplane and actually fly.

During this time the student pilot will see what make the airplane climb, turn and descend under the watchful eye of an FAA certified flight instructor. At first most people are simply speechless, but then once the flight is over they cant stop talking about how much fun it was.

Introductory flights are important says Gary Bradshaw, president of Pilot Journey.com. be this is not just about having just another hobby, this is about doing something that will change someones life Asked what he means Bradshaw states that learning to fly seems to have almost a spiritual effect on people, in that it increases self-esteem and cause people to have a can do attitude about other things in life.

Most introductory flight lessons that flight schools do can last from 30 minutes to an hour and include a tour of the flight school, discussion about what will take place on the flight and answering all the many questions new pilots have.

There are over 600,000 pilots in America, along with 2,000 flight schools and yet this adventure is still not known to most people. The thought is that one has to be rich to learn to fly. Most pilots actually rent airplanes and fly with others for family vacations, meetings and just plain fun.
