Are Your Actions Aligned with Your Intentions?

Are you wondering why you aren't getting more success, happiness, passion, fitness, love, creativity or whatever your personal desire is in your life? If so, there is one very easy to way to figure out what the primary block is for you. Look at your actions.

Do your actions accurately reflect your intentions? Let me use an example from my own life in order to illustrate my point.

For a long time I claimed that I wanted to be healthier; that I wanted to have a higher level of fitness and vitality in my life. But my results weren't reflecting that intention, which caused me some amount of distress.

When I finally looked at my actions, however, the reason was abundantly clear: they were not in alignment with my stated goal or intention.

For example, I was smoking and not exercising regularly. Pretty obvious, wouldn't you think? Except that it wasn't obvious to me, or at least not obvious enough. I was definitely out of alignment and it was that lack of alignment that was causing my anxiety more than anything else.

Ask yourself these questions:

  1. What is your current intention? What is your clearly stated goal or desire that you are working towards? Be specific and descriptive. Clearly identify your target.
  2. What are your current actions in this area? Specifically identify actions you are currently taking that affect your stated intentions directly in some way.

Now compare your answers. Are your actions moving you specifically toward your goal or intention, or not?

It's imperative you understand that if your actions are not moving you specifically and directly towards your goal, they are less than entirely effective and not fully aligned with your goals and therefore need to be corrected. Either that or your intentions need revision. Either way, you are not in alignment with yourself.

Will an action that is getting you near your goal going to get you to your goal?

The obvious answer is, of course, "No, it won't."

If your actions are not currently in alignment with your intentions, this is your opportunity to figure what actions would be in direct alignment with your goal or intention. Then make a plan immediately and implement it today.

Do it today. Not tomorrow, not next week and not the month after next - today. If you don't do it today, there's a very good chance you won't do it at all.

Align your actions directly with your intentions and you'll see a profound improvement in your personal success.

P.S. By the way, I've now quit smoking; I run or walk every morning; and I exercise regularly. My actions are now in direct alignment with my intentions and all my anxiety and distress about my intention to have a high level of health, fitness and vitality are gone.
