Craps: a Game of Rounds

Craps is a game that is slightly more complicated than blackjack and takes a little while to get the hang of. Once you understand the rules though, craps can be fun and rewarding. The first round is known as the come out round. If a 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12 the round ends immediately. If you roll a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 that number is called a point. If you roll a point the dice will continue to be rolled until they land on the same point or a 7.

The hardest part of craps to learn is all the different types of bets you can place. First there is the pass line. Most players bet on the pass line. The pass line bet means that if you roll a 7 or 11 you win, but if you roll a 2, 3, or 12 you lose. You can also win if you roll a point on the come out roll and then roll a 7. The next bet you need to know about is buying the odds. This means that after you roll a point you can bet up to 2 times your pass line bet on the condition that you will roll a point before a 7. The opposite of a pass line bet is called dont pass. If your come out roll is a 2 or 3 then you win, but if it is a 7 or 11 then you lose. The dice are then rolled over until they land on a point or a 7. If the 7 comes first you win the bet.

Now you need to know about laying the odds which is the opposite of buying odds. This means that you are betting that you will roll a 7 before you roll a point. On to the come bet. These bets are like the pass line bet but you can make them at any time. You can also bet on the odds of the come bet. The opposite of the come bet is the dont come bet which is basically the same as the dont pass bet except you can place it at any time. You can also place number bets which is similar to laying odds. You can bet on a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. If the number is rolled before a 7 you win.

Other bets to know about are buy bets which are the same as place bets only with a different payoff. Lay bets are the opposite of buy bets. The best way to describe a hard way bet is with an example. A hard 4 bet means that you must roll a total of 4 before rolling a 7. Lastly, proposition bets simply mean that you bet on either winning or losing on the next roll.

When playing craps online you must first place your bet by choosing the amount of your wager and then clicking on the section of the table for the type of bet you want to place. In the green areas of the table you can place bets while in the red areas you cannot place bets. Now that you have your bet in place it is time to roll the dice. After the dice come to a rest you will either be played for your winning bet or your losing bet will be removed. Now you have the choice to either repeat the same bet you placed in the previous round or clear all bets on the table and create new ones. This is only a brief outline of the game craps. My advice would be to play a few practice hands of craps before playing with real money. Once you get a handle on all the different types of bets that you can place, craps becomes much more understandable.
