A PPO works by contracting a network of doctors and other health care professionals that will provide the medical attention you need at the lowest cost. Understand the cost isnt low because the doctors are cheap; the cost is low because these are doctors that are contracted to work with your PPO health insurance plan. So, under a PPO health insurance plan, you can choose from the PPOs list of doctors and avoid paying outrageously high doctor bills; the price you will pay is considerably lower than what you would pay if you were covered under another type of health insurance plan, or, not covered by a health insurance plan at all.

It seems like the only downfall to finding affordable California health insurance through a PPO is that your choice of doctors is limited to the list provided by the PPO. However, it is actually possible for you to see doctors outside of the network; you may get a smaller percentage of the bill paid for you, and you may not.
