Streaming media? I thought it was called streaming video! Well, according to Google Streaming video is a sequence of "moving images" that are sent in compressed form over the Internet and displayed by the viewer as they arrive. Streaming media is streaming video with sound. With streaming video or streaming media, a Web user does not have to wait to download a large file before seeing the video or hearing the sound. Instead, the media is sent in a continuous stream and is played as it arrives. ... Feel smarter? Good, cause ... Class Is Over - Now for the GOOD Stuff!
So, what I'm REALLY talking about here is streaming media, ya dig? Guess what? Shortly, you'll be able to stand or sit in front of your television set and communicate with your loved ones miles away. Hmmm, think of the business applications for a product like this. And, this is patented technology my friend! So if you're the business type like me, you should hop on this like nobody's business! On the other hand...
If you just simply want to see the grand kids, or check in with your spouse while you're away on business, then guess what? You can! This is amazing. All you will need is a little set-top box, similar to your cable box. Isn't that fascinating? I think so. I am totally geeked about this. What will you need?
You will definitely need at least a basic high-bandwidth connection like DSL or broadband to take advantage of this new technology. And guess what? The phone and cable companies have you covered there. They are both working feverishly to install the necessary infrastructure to support IPTV and very high-bandwidth connections right to your home. IPTV is Internet Protocol Television - It's TV over the Internet. Both the cable companies and phones companies are already doing this in certain areas and they are working to get widespread coverage, just like they did with DSL and broadband. Do you see the sheer potential of this? You should be peeing in your pants right about now! What's Going On Right Now?
Wow, this is the good part too. All of this stuff is the good part! Did you know that right now you can do video broadcasting right from your home office? Do you sell products or bake, or cook, or dance, or do martial arts, and you want to let the world know about it for a small fee.. a small monthly fee? Well, you can through a broadcasting medium similar to pay-per-view, because viewers pay for your broadcast. Can you say Cha-ching?
